Stem Cell Day 2020:

Our keynote speaker is Dr. Paola Arlotta, Golub University Professor and Chair of the Department of Stem Cell and Regenerative Biology at Harvard University. Her work aims at understanding the molecular laws that govern the birth, differentiation, and assembly into working circuitry of neuronal diversity in the cerebral cortex. She strives to integrate developmental and evolutionary knowledge to inform novel strategies for circuit repair in the cortex and for modeling of neuropsychiatric disease in vitro using brain organoids. Dr. Arlotta is the recipient of many awards, including the 2017 George Ledlie Prize from Harvard, The Fannie Cox Prize for excellence in science teaching, the 2018 Friedrich Wilhelm Bessel Research Award from the Humboldt Foundation, and a 2019 Harvard College Professorship.  Dr. Arlotta’s talk is titled, “Understanding human brain development and disease: from embryos to organoids.”
